Abra Pampa

Information

It is one of the most populated localities of the Jujuy Puna. It has grocery shops, an ATM, a petrol station, restaurants and accommodation. Its municipal market sells typical products of the region.

There are attractions to visit in the city and its surroundings:
- It has a main square with the Abra Pampa or Nuestra Señora del Rosario church in front of it.
- The Miraflores River is located 1.5 km west of the town.
- El Huancar: if you take National Route 9 some 5 or 6 km to the south, a dirt road opens up. After 1,200 metres, you begin to skirt a laguna (like a lake). After about 500 metres more you reach the dune area of El Huancar.

How to get to Abra Pampa:
- By bus: there are buses from Humahuaca, La Quiaca, Maimara, San Salvador de Jujuy, Tilcara and Tumbaya.
- By car: it is located on National Route 9, which connects it to localities of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, to La Quiaca (72 km) and to San Salvador de Jujuy (209 km). This road also leads to Salta.
