Paso de la Patria, informally called El Paso, is a tourist town in the Province of Corrientes that has some of the best beaches in northeastern Argentina. They are on the Paraná River, just before the Paraguay River flows into it. During the hot summer, particularly in the months of January and February, visitors arrive in large numbers. Its waterfront is lined with places to have a drink and restaurants, and some offer boat trips and kayak rentals.
It has two main beach sectors, both of them very long and with yellow sand, where the water of the river is clean:
- Punta Mitre Beach: it is the longest one, with approximately 2 km in length. It extends up to Punta Mitre (a point), where there is a small square that is also a viewpoint and has a virgin. A catamaran departs from there (confirm when it operates).
- Beach of Bahía de los Pescadores: it is towards the west and has a length of about 1.6 km.
Between both beach sectors there is a shore path with an amphitheatre.
