General information

An overview of what is there and what to do in the circuit.

As its name says, this circuit includes the localities and tourist attractions located on the Atlantic coast of Buenos Aires.

The area usually referred to by the locals as the Costa Atlántica (Atlantic coast) is the one from Punta Rasa (which is considered the limit between the Río de la Plata and the Atlantic Ocean) to Bahía Blanca, referring to the large number of beach destinations where the inhabitants of Greater Buenos Aires, La Plata and Bahía Blanca usually spend their holidays. However, other destinations outside this area could also be included in this circuit, such as Bahía San Blas, which also belongs to the province of Buenos Aires and has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean.

The number of towns included is large, and most of them have good infrastructure and services for tourists. Some of them, such as Mar del Plata, Necochea, Pinamar and Villa Gesell, are cities with permanent population.

Among the protected natural areas, the Punta Rasa Natural Reserve and the Mar Chiquita Lagoon stand out, which are excellent places to observe sea birds. On the other hand, in Mar del Plata there are those who offer boat trips for the sighting of pelagic birds (species that live mostly in the open sea).
